Continuity in change - Reflections on Tradition, Transmission, and Dance

Dr. Mats Nilsson

December 01, 2021, 14:00 (Online)

Cultural expressions like "dance" are bodily, intangible expressions. Even if dancing, dances, and dancers are always there at the same time, you can study them separately. When you study the /transmission/ of dance, what do you actually see that is transmitted? The dances or the dancing? With dance in Sweden as my empirical base I will discuss transmission of non-material cultural products and expressions, and the change that such transmissions might create.
