Gastforscherin Dr. Linda Cimardi

Im kommenden Studienjahr wird Frau Dr. Linda Cimardi (Università di Bologna) am Institut für Ethnomusikologie als Gastforscherin tätig sein.

 

 

 

Linda Cimardi holds a PhD in Ethnomusicology from the University of Bologna. She has been member of the Italian Ethnological Mission in Equatorial Africa, with which she conducted fieldwork in Uganda from 2008 to 2012. She also carried out field research in Northern Italy, Croatia and Bosnia and archival research in Kampala, Venice and Berlin. Her main research topics are: transformation and dissemination of folk repertoires in Africa and in Europe, gender, music and dance. Among her publications, La Posavina canta e piange [Posavina sings and cries], vol. II (2016).

 

 

 

Moreover, Linda Cimardi is currently offering a course about "Music from Africa: transformations and transfers" at the Institute of Ethnomusicology: this course includes a survey of some of the Sub-Saharan region’s main repertoires, especially from East and West Africa, with modules dedicated to the transformations of particular genres through time.
